Our First Review: The Healer Receives 4 Stars from UK Film Review

There are some milestones in a film’s journey that feel truly unforgettable, and this week we’ve reached one of them. The Healer has received its very first review – and we are over the moon to share that it’s a 4-star review from UK Film Review.

Seeing the film come to life has been such a labour of love for everyone involved, from the earliest drafts of the script to the long days on set, to the final touches in the edit. To now have it out in the world and recognised in such a wonderful way is something we’re all incredibly proud of.

The review spoke with such care and insight about the story, the performances, and the emotional power of the film. One line that really moved us was:

“Any moment in The Healer which involves comparative editing between boy and horse is so inherently emotional … it elevates … a relatively conventional story of trauma to an expertly crafted tale of what it means to relate to the things around you.”

For us, that bond between Jake and the horse was always at the heart of the story, and it’s incredibly special to know that it resonates so deeply with audiences.

We’re also delighted that the reviewer, James Learoyd, took the time to speak more about The Healer in a short video, which you can watch here: James Learoyd on The Healer.

Hearing someone talk about the film in their own words, and with such genuine feeling, has been such a gift.

A huge thank you to UK Film Review and to James for this beautiful first write-up. To receive 4 stars for our debut review is fantastic, and it gives us so much excitement for the next steps of the film’s journey as we share it with festivals and audiences around the world.
